Hamburger Helper, No Box Required

Bee gave me a request this week, she had a craving for Hamburger Helper. Oh heck naw, I don’t make food from a box! So what’s a mom to do? Find out how to make one on her own of course.

1 lb ground beef

1 tbsp olive oil

1 minced garlic clove

1 yellow onion, chopped

1 bell pepper, chopped

1 tbsp cornstarch

2 tsp paprika

1 tsp garlic powder

1/4 tsp crushed red pepper flakes

1 cup water

2 cups milk

1 box elbow pasta

1 cup baby spinach

1 cup cheese

Heat a pot of water and add macaroni once it’s boiling.

In another pot, warm the meat, onion and garlic.

Throw in green peppers once meat is browned. Then add all the spices.

Drain macaroni and stir in cornstarch. I know weird, just do it.

Stir in meat mixture.

Now the milk and the water.

Stir it all together, then add the cheese.

And the spinach.

Cook until heated through.

Looks better than the real thing right? I love a good challenge. Oh and totally make this, the leftovers barely made it to the second night.
